| The
problematic representation of identity on internet is questioned
via a performance piece in which a participant is asked a series
of True/False questions (via a speech recognition system) in a number
of categories (i.e. race, gender, ethnicity, politics, terror) to
provide information about their identity. The computer then makes
search inquiries at Google ( in the format: "The Participant
Name + "a keyword from that category") to reveal what
actually Google knows about that person in that particular subject.
The results are then projected as participant answers (red) and
Google results (white) simultaneously at the back of the participant
while the answers are formatted as an HTML page that is uploaded
to the web, adding new content for Google. |
